Does anyone have a solution to using thick tape on quad feeders? The feeders are not strong enough to handle the thicker carrier tape. This causes much downtime and frustration.

I have experienced this problem on the Quad thinpro feeders only. I have not had any issues with their standard feeders.

Are these 12 or 5 volt feeders?

The feeders have 8 pins, so I believe they are 12 v. But will double check

Especially on capacitors, the tape is so thick that the motor starts to slow down and does not advance the parts fast enough or not at all. This happens on regular 8mm.

Some guys used to hang weight on the spent tape with a binder clip to help pull the tape through. Not ideal of course, but may help in a pinch...if you try it, you'll have to move the weight(s) up every so often.

Quad4C's have their moments. If the price is right and you are aware of the machines limitations then you will be satisfied. The placement rate is slow, 1.2 seconds/chip. Don't buy any Quad if it has the CyberOptics Laser unit, the Quadalign unit is

I have worked with 4c's for two years. The feeders are "tinker toys" with a mechanism that slips, so the pick-up has to be adjusted several times as the reel is used, especially with 13" reels. The worm gear was plastic on the steel shaft of the moto
