Rinse water resistivity/conductivity levels

Electronics Forum | Tue May 22 11:38:04 EDT 2012 | naynayno

I am looking for IPC or other published standards that specify cleanliness levels for: 1) solder paste stencils 2) selective solder pallets When we cleaned PCB's we used a limit of 4 M-ohms. Now that we have transitioned to No-Clean, I am wonderi

There is no standard, nor should there be. You need to establish a standard that meets your customer requirements. The problem with those old-timey standard is that there's just so many choices. What works for you just might be too strict [or loose]

Incoming Water Quality

The issue is not the cleanliness of your in-bound water. The issue is the cleanliness of the board your customer receives. Look at J-STD-001C, Para 8, "Cleanliness Requirements". The end product cleanliness is the end result of your: * In-bound

OK Pizza it is then, here goes. Dewetting of Ni/Au pads, paste favouring the Tinned component lead hence excess paste wicking on top of the components. Reason is EITHER Nickel migration into the gold due to high levels of Ionics from poor rinse OR mo

Casimir: Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) testers measure ionic contamination by washing boards with a DI water/IPA solution. (No-clean people: Stop and go on to something else.) The testers are process control instruments used to monitor a

Tarnish Occuring after Washing???

Electronics Forum | Sun Jul 24 16:10:16 EDT 2011 | davef

As a shot in the dark response to a hopelessly vague question .... Back in the old days, we'd see corrosion of metal parts after DI water washing when our water was on the high-end of the resistivity range, usually after we received fresh tanks from

Re: Heat Dissipation Problem

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 01 14:31:22 EDT 1999 | Dave F

| To aid in heat dissipation of our PCB, we would like to try having copper fill areas on the board that are hot air levelled and not covered with solder resist. Then, when the board is reflowed, solder paste would be applied and then solder. Has any

Cleanliness test

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 02 12:15:10 EST 2003 | Mike Konrad

Richard, With respect to the Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) test, the test solution is exceptionally aggressive. With the Zero-Ion for example, the test solutions resistivity is 150 M-Ohms. Additionally, because test solution is made up of

DI water testing?

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 27 11:20:58 EDT 2007 | davef

Q1: Is it sufficent to simply put meter probes in the water to get a resistance reading? A1: No. You need a meter for the purpose. Myron-L [myronl.com] is one such company Q2: I'm very skeptical of the Culligan man as they tried to pass distilled w
