Anyone have information on the ROSA Technique? It is a derivative of the SERA analysis for solder-ability on pads, (they are not italian sisters)I belive the techniques were developed by Rockwell and Motorola. thanks in advance. JKK

Either you need a stronger flux or the solderable surfaces need to be reconditioned. Most board fabricators don't do reconditioning. Search the fine SMTnet Archives for discussion on ROSA. EMPF is one place that does ROSA on a contract basis.

ACI offers solderability restoration services by using Reduced Oxide Soldering Activation (ROSA) technology to remove the oxide layers from circuit boards or components and then re-tin or otherwise coat them to maintain a solderable surface. The R

Jeff: Try this: ROSA. Johns spot on. Ill add that it is a fluxless method that reduces the oxides in an aqueous solution. Another source of information is: Trench, M., Hillman, D., Lucey, G., "Environmentally Friendly Closed Loop Soldering,"

We test Parts and Components to IPC J-std-002/003. We also use a wetting Balance tester to determine solderability. We also test with SERA. We use ROSA to electrochemically revert the components back to their original state. Need more info ... email
