You are very right. There are 2 major factors 1) There is going to be Flux separation. This is basically due to fact that metal particles are heavier than the Flux vehicle system, and due to gravity effect they slowly drift downwards leaving the ligh

expired solder paste

Define "expired" though... 1 week? 6 weeks? 1 month? 6 months? Unrefrigerated life is generally 30 days. If paste has been stored refrigerated at manufacturer recommended temperatures, what would you guys do, like say, if you owned your own shop

How to set warm-up time of solder paste

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 28 13:46:28 EST 2006 | slthomas

Assuming you're using DOM and shelf life to determine what's good and what's not, you just have to know 1)the rate at which you use it up, 2) how much shelf life is left, and 3) the rate that it goes bad when not refrigerated. From that you can tel

Use of solder paste after taking out from cold storage

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 27 08:38:04 EDT 2005 | jdengler

Simply leave the paste out at the end of the shift for the next days use. Keeping the paste refrigerated just prolongs the shelf life. Even if you are at the expiration date leaving the paste out for 36 hrs won't make any difference. Jerry

Although we do not have any soldering issues with our OSP PCB's, I am trying to establish clear rules with regards pcb storage and shelf life. Our PCB's are supplied in metalised moisture barrier bags but without desicant, our current rules as follow

Hi, That's a good idea. I might head down the the 7-Eleven, and try it! I did not realize there is not too much to be gained by using refrigeration. We don't keep much paste in stock and buy it as we need it, so perhaps we should just keep it out r

We just ran a study to try to determine this. We exposed the paste to 85% humidity to simulate worst case manufacturing. At various times we removed the paste from the chamber and tested it for tack, solder balling, wetting (copper coupon), and vis
