There is no industry standard for BTC stand-off height. "IPC-7093A Design and Assembly Process Implementation for Bottom Termination SMT (BTC) Components" just finished "Final Draft for Industry Review" in December 2018. It mentions stand-off height

Hi all, Assuming that i were to design a PCB and there are multiple components, what is the minimum spacing required to ensure that i won't have problems in my SMT process later on? Also, is there a minimum component stand-off height spec as well?

Screen printing has much lower profile than dispensing. So it is suitable for chips without body stand-off, (Even sot23 has stand-off). But is is much faster. Dispensers can not catch up with some chip shooters.

John: I agree. We keep out lead stand-off below 60 thou.

First piece of advice: build the board as you would any other board. Probably, you will be surprised at the holding force of the solder of the connections of the BGA, because the surface area of the solder is very large compared to the weight of the

Do the parts sit directly on the PCB? Typical 2.0 mm Max is desired for the component to be off the PCB. Are stand-offs an option? The long lead wiggles as it passes through the wave and thus agitating the air out.Does your wave a "dancer" option?

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to check with the designers if they can accomodate the height if I was to use parts with stand-off. The bigger holes was already suggested, but they don't want to change them until a new revision on the product comes o

Hi Mike, What type of component you have the problem? For a quick refernce you have two points for the ideal dot: 1- Dot size = 2/3 of area of glue (pad to pad) 2- Dot height = pad thickness + component stand off

Hey Dreamguy: On stand-offs: * "Sugar" stand-offs look nice, after washing (if you wash, as Chad said), but we find them kinda fragile. The only people that can install 'em without bustin' more than they install are the "skill people" that we don
