An independant analysis might also be warrented. And what I've seen is that you can't save money on PCB's. If you go with cheap providers you end up with boards that cost big time in other ways.

Hi Dave, Immersion Ag has poor surface appearances after reflow or rather tarnished, while Immersion Tin requries higher temp. Probably that's why Immersion Ag is more preferred.

raw copper on pcb

Hi, I have pcbs (Duroid/RT 5880) with raw copper, soldered in vapour-phase chamber at 230 degrees Celsius. During soldering, copper gets tarnished. Cleaning with Vigon A250 removes the tarnished layer. Indeed, in the VigonA250 techn. datasheet it is

Immersion Silver Board Finishes

There reasoning is ignorance. They are most likely concerned about tarnish on PCB surface. We have let immersion silver PCBs sit out open for 10 days in a noncontrolled enviromnent. We had no issues with these assemblies and they were segregated a

Russ, We also use 'immersion silver' and have not had any impact on our processes. In fact there are a number of benefits i.e very flat pads (as good as electroless nickel/immersion gold but much cheaper and less unfriendly to the environment), good

Post Reflow changes To Silver Immersion Copper Traces On PWB

the tarnishing is happening across all the traces without solder even being applied. The PCB is soldered into the housing first. Once this is complete the traces have changed, and when it is time to solder the components to the traces this tarnishing

Water Residue Stains - use toothpaste remover

I called a cuppa of indutrial friends, and they concluded that the flex-PCB in question, was being subject too high a oven-baking temperature of 100deg-C...50~60deg-C oven-baking temperature would be more appropriate for flex-PCB, due to its very pad

Immersion Ag

Are you refering to MacDermid Sterling Silver finish or immersion silver in general. We have had enquiries about Sterling Silver from a customer and the blurb I have read looks very good (don't most sales literature). Has anyone tried this finish? O

PCB becomes darken (yellownish)

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 03 11:42:21 EDT 2008 | robinj

If the tarnish is really dark, it is very difficult to remove. Since it is yellowish it is only in the early stages. Replating will definitely work. I have used sulfuric acid based cleaners to remove this yellowish color. But rinse well and dry quick

ENiG or IAg? Which is better?

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 06 10:43:49 EST 2008 | samir

Folks, what is the industry consensus? Which is the more popular lead-free, flat finish these days? Here's what I know from my experience. IAg: 1. Quality of finish is dependent on supplier 2. Can NOT be reworked. It is known that reworking t
