| I have boards coated with Humiseal 1B73. At a late point mfg. site we need to remove a series of 0603 resistors for optioning purposes. I have been trying to determine the fastest, easiest way to re-coat the pads after removal. Drying time of the c

Is it possible and does any standard cover inspecting soldering joints through conformal coating?

You can inspect joints using an X-ray machine and we use a sand-blaster type machine which blasts (Starch) to remove the conformal coating. (Carbo Blast). However; the inspection should be done prior to Coating, as we all know some jobs are rushed t

IPC J-STD-001 does not allow solder inspection to be combined with coating inspection for classes 2 and 3.

inspect => conformal coat ... and standards are aligned with that philosophy. I can imagine doing a good job inspecting assembly after being coated with particular coating thickness, optical properties, lighting conditions. Ultra-thins are so thin

The next question how do you do repair through conformal coating . Opps! Better off having done all your inspection and testing first! Hopefully your question is for service! regards sarason

We are having a problem with inspection markings on our boards running when conformal coating is applied We have tried standard permanant markers, and also paint markers, but both run when the coating is applied. There must be someone out there who

I have found that Edding do an aerospace marker, which is water based and does not run with the conformal coating. However, this washes off prior to the coating so it is not much use. Looks like we are just going to have to put some clear tape over
