Profiled Squeegee Blade: Rewrites the Rules for Angle of Attack

For centuries, the squeegee blade has been used throughout many applications for depositing viscous materials through screens and stencils to transfer images on to substrates, from cloth material to electronic circuit boards. One area of blade printing mechanics that have been reviewed many times is the angle of attack of the blade. Typically it has been tested from 45 degrees to 60 degrees to optimize the printing quality and efficiency. However, this typically ends up as a compromise, from fill characteristics (45 degrees) to print definition (60 degrees). This paper will present the revolutionary performance of the profiled squeegee blade, which has recently been developed to create a virtual multi angle of attack for unsurpassed process control for all types of stencil printing processes.

Effects of Flux and Reflow Parameters on Lead-Free Flip Chip Assembly

The melting temperatures of most lead-free solder alloys are somewhat higher than that of eutectic Sn/Pb solder, and many of the alloys tend to wet typical contact pads less readily. This tends to narrow down the fluxing and mass reflow process windows for assembly onto typical organic substrates and may enhance requirements on placement accuracy. Flip chip assembly here poses some unique challenges. The small dimensions provide for particular sensitivities to wetting and solder joint collapse, and underfilling does not reduce the demands on the intermetallic bond strength. Rather, the need to underfill lead to additional concerns in terms of underfill process control and reliability. Relatively little can here be learned from work on regular SMT components, BGAs or CSPs.

Press-fit technology is a proven and widely used and accepted interconnection method for joining electronics assemblies. Printed Circuit Board Assembly Systems and typical functional subassemblies are connected through press-fit connectors. The Press-Fit Compliant Pin is a proven interconnect termination to reliably provide electrical and mechanical connections from a Printed Circuit Board to an Electrical Connector. Biosensors – a new Sensor Type from IST AG What are Biosensors? A biosensor is a device capable of detecting a certain substance or analyte with high specificity. Examples of such analytes are glucose, lactate, glutamine and glutamate. Most biosensors measure the concentration of an analyte in an aqueous solution, usually producing an electrical signal, which is proportional to the analyte’s concentration in its measuring range. An enzymatic biosensor comprises an enzyme, which recognizes and reacts with the target analyte generating a chemical signal, a transducer, which produces a physical signal out of that chemical one, and an electronic amplifier, which conditions and amplifies the signal. (...)This paper showcases a new stencil process that was discovered by reverting to the basics:understanding the reason for each stencil material process, focusing on detailed finishes and a disciplined aperture design process, maintaining original designs, and making the correctly designed apertures to control the paste deposition. The test results drove us to focus the efforts on the aperture walls In this paper we will demonstrate with lab tests SMT process results howthe improved paste release results in improved SMT print process performance and its positive impact on SPI yields and EOL performance.

Climatest Symor® adopts molecular sieve to dry air, the whole system is controlled by microcomputer, when humidity is high, It will start to absorb moisture,when the humidity reach the pre-set value, it will stop absorbing, and then discharge the water to outside the cabinet by heating,again and again by automatic control. The most effective and environment-friendly moisture-absorbing desiccant is molecular sieve, molecular sieve is the microporous crystal material synthesized by silicon and aluminium oxide. In order to keep the crystal net discharge to be zero, atoms with cations are located in the crystal structure.and the cation used in these synthetic crystals is usually sodium. At present, there are two kinds of molecular sieves widely used in the dry box industry: Class A and Class X. Molecular sieves are synthesized, shaped and activated under strictly controlled production processes. The whole controlled sythesis process can ensure consistency of the three-dimensional pore size. 3A molecular sieve pore size is 3 angstroms, 4A molecular sieve pore size is 4 angstroms; 13X molecular sieve pore size is 8.5 angstroms. The working principle of molecular sieve: Molecular sieves adsorb molecules onto the crystal surface by physical attraction force. Since 95% surface area of the molecular sieve is within aperture,it needs to screen the adjacent molecules by different size. Only small size molecules can enter into the inner adsorption surface of the molecular sieve through the crystal aperture. This selective adsorption phenomenon is called molecular sieve effect. The molecular sieve adsorption capacity and charge density (polarity) are further related to the adsorbed molecules. The molecular sieves can further distinguish which of the mixed molecules can be adsorbed and determine to what extent the charge density can allow the molecules to be adsorbed onto the crystal. Water molecules are particularly small (2.6 angstroms), that belong to highly polar molecules (very strong positive and negative electron density), and are easily adsorbed by molecular sieves, even under very low moisture condition,once the water molecules are adsorbed,they will be firmly fixed on the crystal. The environment-friendly moisture absorption device is equipped with molecular sieve. When it’s absorbing, the memory alloy controller is in tensile state, and the spring is in contractive state,which just make the valve contact the outer baffle, this insulates the outside air from inside dry box air to achieve dehumidification purpose; and after molecular sieve absorbed moisture inside dry box and become saturated, the program will automatically control the memory alloy device to shrink it so that the valve reaches the inner baffle position. Meanwhile, due to the shrinkage of the memory alloy, the spring is stretched and the valve is pulled out of the outer baffle,so that the moisture in molecular sieve will be discharged into the outside. after the dehumidifying process finished, the program automatically control and reset the memory alloy and spring,to restart absorbing status.

Printed circuit board surface finishes are a topic of constant discussion as environmental influences, such as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive or technology challenges, such as flip chip and 01005 passive components, initiate technology changes. These factors drive the need for greater control of processing characteristics like coplanarity and solderability, which influence the selection of surface finishes and impact costs as well as process robustness and integrity. The ideal printed circuit board finish would have good solderability, long shelf life, ease of fabrication/processing, robust environmental performance and provide dual soldering/wirebonding capabilities; unfortunately no single industry surface finish possesses all of these traits. The selection of a printed circuit board surface finish is ultimately a series of compromises for a given application.
