Conductive Adhesive Dispensing for Electronic Manufacturing

Technical Library | 2023-09-07 14:54:10.0

A global manufacturer of a broad line of electronic interconnect solutions worked with us to dispense conductive adhesive EpoTek H20E-FC. EpoTek H20E-FC is a two-component, electrically conductive, snap curing epoxy for photovoltaic thin film module stringing, semiconductor packaging and PCB circuit assembly. The primary goal was filling a rectangular cavity on a connector. The epoxy needed to fill the connector to the top of the walls in less than three seconds.

Modelling of Thermal Stresses in Printed Circuit Boards

Technical Library | 2011-10-20 22:03:30.0

Results of FEM modelling of thermal stress analysis in printed circuit boards are given in the article. It is shown that thermal stress alone is not solely caused by differences in coefficients of thermal expansion of individual layers. The emergence of thermal stress is subject to both the layered structure of the wall and given boundary conditions, as well as the existence of a temperature gradient in the direction normal to the surface of the wall. A practical application focuses on the issue of recycling of PCB with the effort to achieve separation of layers due to thermal stress. Role modelling of thermal stress in this area lies in predicting the possibility of separation, depending on the type of thermal stress and material parameters.

Stencil Printing of Small Apertures

Technical Library | 2012-10-25 16:34:02.0

First published in the 2012 IPC APEX EXPO technical conference proceedings. This paper will examine stencil technologies (including Laser and Electroform), Aperture Wall coatings (including Nickel-Teflon coatings and Nano-coatings), and how these parameters influence paste transfer for miniature devices with Area Ratios less than the standard recommended lower limit of .5. A matrix of print tests will be utilized to compare paste transfer and measure the effectiveness of the different stencil configurations. Area Ratios ranging from .32 to .68 will be investigated.

Print Performance Studies Comparing Electroform and Laser-Cut Stencils

Technical Library | 2015-11-05 15:09:27.0

There has been recent activity and interest in Laser-Cut Electroform blank foils as an alternative to normal Electroform stencils. The present study will investigate and compare the print performance in terms of % paste transfer as well the dispersion in paste transfer volume for a variety of Electroform and Laser-Cut stencils with and without post processing treatments. Side wall quality will also be investigated in detail. A Jabil solder paste qualification test board will be used as the PCB test vehicle.

Noise Fault Detection of High Low Temperature Test Chamber(Climatic chamber)

Technical Library | 2019-04-11 06:04:49.0

With the development of science and technology, the climatic chamber quality has been improved, and the failure rate is reduced, but there still have the failure probability.today we introduce what are the mian factors for big noise high low temperature test chamber: 1.External factors: the bottom angle is uneven, the ground is uneven, adjust the bottom angle, ensure the equipment is in a horizontal position; 2.The equipment is touched other objects or pushed against the wall, pls remove the objects and keep a certain distance from the wall. 3.Compressor noise:check whether the compressor collides with the pipeline, and evaporator dish is loose or not. 4.Check whether compressor shock absorbers are aging and replace them. 5.Solenoid valve noise: solenoid valve reversing caue loud sound, pls add damping glue, if no effect, need to replace solenoid valve. If there is AC noise, need to replace the power board. 6.Check wether the fan or the fan string shaft make noise, whether the fan blades are touched and deformed, whether the fan is fixed or not, pls adjust accordingly or add the rubber pad. Low Surface Energy Coatings Rewrites the Area Ratio Rules

Technical Library | 2013-06-20 14:33:12.0

With today's consumer technologies driving the need for denser and more compact devices, the assembly process for surface mounted devices has becoming increasingly more difficult. With the mixture of components requiring a broader range of print deposition volume, various techniques are in use in an attempt to ensure consistent and appropriate paste volume is achieved. Some of these techniques include step etching a stencil locally on a targeted device, promoting electroformed smooth wall nickel stencils, through to laser cutting newer grade stencil materials. This paper focuses on the relevant attributes that affect the properties of solder paste release and introduces the effects of surface free energy with respect to key elements that make up the stencil printing process.

Material Effects of Laser Energy When Processing Circuit Board Substrates during Depaneling

Technical Library | 2017-04-27 17:10:16.0

Using modern laser systems for the depanelization of circuit boards can create some challenges for the production engineer when it is compared to traditional mechanical singulation methods. Understanding the effects of the laser energy to the substrate material properly is essential in order to take advantage of the technology without creating unintended side effects. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the various laser system operating parameters that were performed to determine the resulting substrate material temperature changes. A theoretical model was developed and compared to actual measurements. The investigation includes how the temperature increase resulting from laser energy during depaneling affects the properties of the PCB substrate, which varies from no measurable change to a lowering of the surface resistance of the cut wall depending on the cutting parameters.

SMT Stencil, Surface Performance Returning to Basics in the SMT Screen Printing Process to Significantly Improve the Paste Deposition

Technical Library | 2018-03-15 07:23:35.0

The SMT assembly process is continuously challenged by the factors which enhance circuit board performance and limit productivity. The pick and place and reflow systems reflect these driven issues by adding more and more controls to their systems, but the fact is one of the age old processes continues to operate within the same rules since the dawn of the SMT assembly world: The SMT screen printing. (...)This paper showcases a new stencil process that was discovered by reverting to the basics:understanding the reason for each stencil material process, focusing on detailed finishes and a disciplined aperture design process, maintaining original designs, and making the correctly designed apertures to control the paste deposition. The test results drove us to focus the efforts on the aperture walls In this paper we will demonstrate with lab tests SMT process results howthe improved paste release results in improved SMT print process performance and its positive impact on SPI yields and EOL performance.

Study of the Rheological Behaviors of Solder Pastes

Technical Library | 2018-11-06 12:42:25.0

Solder paste is a homogeneous, stable suspension of solder powder particles suspended in a flux binder, and is one of the most important process materials today in surface mount technology (SMT). By varying the solder particle size, distribution and shape, as well as the other constituent materials, the rheology and printing performance of solder pastes can be controlled. Paste flow behavior is very important in defining the printing performance of any paste. The purpose of this paper is to study the rheological behavior of SAC (Sn-Ag-Cu) solder paste used for surface mount applications in the electronic industry. The reason why the rheological tests are presented in this paper are two critical sub-processes: aperture filling and paste withdraw. In this paper, we report on the investigation of the rheological profiles, the serrated cone-to-plate system was found as effective in parameter minimizing the wall-slip effect

Introduction to the manufacturing process of anti static ic tubes

Technical Library | 2019-01-20 22:47:35.0

With the rapid development of the electronics industry, more and more components such as integrated circuits and connectors, relays, power modules, etc. need to be packaged with IC tubes. The anti static ic tubes is actually a kind of pvc plastic(reference to : What are the materials for IC tubes) profile, the size varies with the shape of the installed product, the precision requirement is high, the wall thickness should be controlled within ±0.1mm, and the surface is required to have no impurity spots, smooth and transparent. The IC packaging tubes produced by Sewate Technology Co., Ltd. are extruded. The typical process flow is: extrusion, vacuum adsorption setting, traction, fixed length cutting and directional discharge, deburring, immersion antistatic liquid, drying, testing, packaging and storage
