Soft Starter

Industry News | 2021-06-02 23:05:16.0

The traditional method of starting an AC induction motor "across the line" results in full voltage, current, and torque being applied immediately when the motor is started, and likewise, being removed immediately when the motor is stopped. While this is the most simple starting method, the high inrush current (often 6 to 7 times the motor's rated current) and peak starting torque can damage the motor, driven equipment, and product. Across the line starting also causes high peak power demand, which can trigger peak demand fees from the utility company. A soft starter can eliminate these problems by gradually increasing voltage to the motor terminals during startup, providing a controlled ramp-up to full speed. This lowers inrush current and controls starting torque, reducing mechanical shocks to the system and the product.

A-Tek Systems To Feature its Latest Advancements at APEX 2015

Industry News | 2015-02-16 17:56:57.0

ASYS is proud to announce that several new innovations and products will be shown at the upcoming IPC APEX in San Diego. Uptime is an important factor in any SMT production, as it is a key measurement to judge how efficient a plant is operating. Therefore, ASYS continued the development of PULSE. An entire production line can be monitored not only via a tablet, but now even via a smartwatch called PULSE Wear. Important to note that this is an open interface, so any equipment supplier is welcome to take advantage of it.

How to Use a Rotary Encoder

Industry News | 2021-08-19 05:31:34.0

A rotary encoder converts the angular position or motion of a shaft or axle to analog or digital output signals, so it is also called a shaft encoder. Absolute encoder and incremental encoder are the two main types. Rotary encoders are applied widely, including situations which require monitoring or control, and mechanical systems. So how to use a rotary encoder?

Saelig Intros New Economical 500MHz Dual-Channel AWGs From Siglent

Industry News | 2017-11-13 10:48:13.0

Saelig Company, Inc. has introduced Siglent’s SDG6000X series of Dual-Channel Pulse/Arbitrary Waveform Generators that create test signals up to 500MHz using a sample rate of 2.4GSa/s and 16-bit vertical resolution for an 80dB dynamic range. This series features Siglent’s proprietary TrueArb and EasyPulse technologies that solve the weaknesses inherent in traditional DDS waveform creation. TrueArb technology generates arbitrary waveforms “point-by-point” to produce a very low jitter (
