Of the various electronic components used on printed circuits boards, the majority can be mounted using standard SMT processes. However, there are still many products that require large, odd-form or insertion components which cannot be handled by standard mounting equipment. These components are often mounted by hand at a later stage of production. This type of manual mounting is highly labor intensive, so there is strong demand to automate these processes.
