The SMTA is pleased to announce its election results for the Global Board of Directors for the term beginning September 22, 2019 during SMTA International. Sal Sparacino, ZESTRON Americas, was re-elected as VP Communications. Julie Silk, Keysight Technologies; Ivan Roman, Continental Powertrain; and Robert Boguski, Datest Corporation; have been newly elected to the Board of Directors.

The SMTA is pleased to announce its election results for the Global Board of Directors for the term beginning September 28, 2022. Martin Anselm, Ph.D., Rochester Institute of Technology was re-elected for a second term as President. Incumbents Julie Silk, Keysight Technologies and Robert Boguski, Datest Corporation, were re-elected and will maintain their positions as VP Tech Programs and VP Membership respectively. Fernando Rueda, KYZEN Corporation, and Patty Chonis, A-Tek LLC, have been newly elected to the Board of Directors.

Bill Capen, DRS Technologies, and Greg Vance, Rockwell Automation, were elected to the Strategic Planning Committee. Debbie Carboni, KYZEN Corporation, was re-elected as VP Expos.

SMTA Interim President Announced

The SMTA announced that Gregory Vance, Rockwell Automation, will serve as interim president through the current term ending in September 2020. The decision, made by the board of directors, comes after the resignation by current president, Jeff Kennedy, due to a conflict of interest outlined in the association bylaws which forbids two concurrent offices held by employees of the same company.

The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) announced the recent release of Cleaning 101 and Rework 101, the latest in a series of online training courses on the fundamentals of electronics assembly. The courses will be useful for equipment operators, technicians, and engineers new to the industry that want to understand more about the soldering process and who have a basic familiarity with the equipment.
