IPC-A-610 interpretation of wetting angle (Chapter5)

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 12 13:15:37 EDT 2017 | davef

It is the two conditions pictured in IPC-A-610F, Figure 5-1 C, D. In the old, simplier days, we wanted our solder connection to have: * Low wetting angle * Shiny metal Today, the metal doesn't have to be shiny and the wetting angle can be a high

Lucky guess, eh? [Sorry to blow your theory on bad parts] A 1000 of these boards on the line, ummm. Two ideas to consider: * Increase the conveyor angle [don't get carried away, just keep the angle below 8*]. * Balance the flow of solder so that th

wave soldering conveyor angle

it can adjusted per the machine and your boards, Not a fix for every board, also if you are talking about the LF wave soldering process, it should be moved to largr angle compared to the tranditional sn/pb soldering

epoxy stamping

Does a machine exist that stamps epoxy onto angled surfaces and not just vertically? I would guess this would be done by either tilting the specimin to be stamped with epoxy or by turning the stamping tool at an angle. If anyone can recommend somet

This could happen if your angle was wrong on the machine. If its a Chinese machine then probably 4 - 5 Deg. With the wrong angle the solder will only drain in one direction instead of both. cheers greg

Hi Vijai, You didn't say if you were running Tin/Lead or Lead Free. For lead free soldering I would suggest that you try to achieve as close to 7deg conveyor angle as you can. John
