Thanks Mike, Unfortunately I am limited to the amount of time I can run preheat along with the limitation of only two different settings/cycles. Looks like its time to get a higher end rework station.

Lifted pads are almost always caused by pad to substrate adhesion likely degraded significantly after too much heat. Poorly trained operators armed with soldering irons can do this expertly.

What kind of material is Durastone? The only I could find on Google is a stone used for tiles, but probably you are referring to another material. I hope it is not extracted from the same mines of Baohodium ;-) Regards, Olas

Sorry, I found it. I typed Durastone instead of Durostone. Interesting material. Have a good day, Olas

It sounds more expensive just at face value than better LEDs, and potentially MUCH more exensive due to failures if there is any kind of stress on that weakened connection.

Well, you won't win any IPC awards for doing this. Another idea is to use a center punch to create the dimple you need. It wouls be quicker and you won't destroy the barrel like you will with a drill. Don't ask me how I know.

Steve, You almost got yout Man Card revoked for stating: "determining the risks associated with simultaneously applying compressive and rotational forces to the end of the barrel". Luckily you bounced back with "chewing up the copper". Just pokin
