All, I would like to learn more about the panelisation of boards. Are there any "rules of thumb" when approaching a PCB that requires panelisation. What are the most reliable connections from breakout piece to boards i.e V-score , drilled tabs etc

Dougs: What is the purpose of this test? Lately, we have had a lot of boards that do not withstand the Drive-Over The Board With A UPS Truck Test. We wonder is the is some relation between our test failures and your customer's.

The fluxes used in the board manufacture are RMA fluxes. The board is cleaned according to the IPC standards and tested to ensure quality. I am thinking of designing a DOE to isolate the problem

Mika, 1.) Is there a maximum board thickness where it would be almost impossible to get a decent hole fil? Answer: The thicker the board the further the solder has to travel and the more you depend on solderability of boards and components, machine

Most times its easier to verify the parts......and if you set it aside.......when/if you have a board that ends up missing some parts.....you can use them off the taped one....

Why don't you estimate a board, then do a time study when you actually build the board to see how accurate the estimate was. This works very well in convinceing someone how accurate you are. Jerry
