At my last jwob we avoided the white ones. Although very nice at first, the "heavier" guys never seemed to turn theirs in for cleaning. Thus we had the "dirty snowball" syndrome occurring that gave customers the opposite reaction we were hoping for

We have an AUREL CS1222 machine to measure the thickness of the solder paste deposited on a bare board by a stencil printer. This device has a laser beam that has to be put on the pad where you want to measure the solder paste thickness. The measure

MikeL, I came across your post. We are also a small company looking at rework systems for BGA/QFN/CSP. .5mm worse case pitch. We had a PACE 1700 on trial and we found it clunky and unreliable. We also evaluated a PDR 410 system and found it better

My company is looking to run some small validation cards to verify our Pb free process for potential customers. Basocally, we'd like to print a small card, place some components, say 0402 to a small BGA, maybe some thru-hole stuff, and reflow it. So

The really crazy part is, the way the Europeans wrote up the law, it holds the retailers responsible for getting rid of, and not possessing, leaded devices. They're the ones left holding the bag when things don't happen as they should. They get fined

Hi Russ, Just a quick note to you the assembly houses, You say your transition will be the easiest, I would have to beg to differ after working with several CM's and working with there Wave solder lines and finding compatibale fluxes that will work

I agree. When I said the easiest I am talking about resource and effort. I have seen our custmoers working on B.O.M. and AVL for in excess of a year with multiple people. We have been running SMT pbfree for 2 years now and it actually has been eas

About 8 years ago when I looked up IC data sheets, I would find the reflow temperature tolerance data for them. (i.e. can withstand 280C for 180 seconds or whatever) I wasn't looking for that info at that time but noticed on at least some data sheet

What are some general guidelines for the minimum proximity of apertures to a stepdown on a stepped stencil. I have a step from 7 mils to 5 (one mil step each on the top and bottom). How far does the step need to extend beyond the apertures on the

Step stencils are not widely used, due to: * Higher cost as compared to uniform thickness stencils * Danger of solder paste smearing at least close to the steps * Difficulty of cleaning the stepped stencil underside (the steps cannot be on the upper
