Steve, We use that Circuit Works pen as well! You can purchase a UV cure then download it to an opaque syringe or bottle. Use a small EFD or similar luer lock tip and dispense where needed. Tom

Thanks for the input, but ken that would cost a small fortune. But wouldn't it be nice if a machine had powder coating on all surfaces?

Bake your solder mask and then solder coat. If you are going to put an immersion finish like Osp, gold, tin or silver you would have to do a Micro etch to clean the copper prior to placing the surface finish. Regards, Board House

We have our board house apply a peel coat mask that can be brushed off after wave or reflow. You need to brush off while it's still warm.

The hand assembled part is soldered in? If so, the white residue may be from the operator using some added wave solder flux to get better wetting when hand soldering.

The fluxes used in the board manufacture are RMA fluxes. The board is cleaned according to the IPC standards and tested to ensure quality. I am thinking of designing a DOE to isolate the problem
