We are experiencing the same problem. We just spent $1,200 to figure out that the "black stuff" is a Nickel Oxide. I am going to look into the profile end of this problem. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Dave

Mike: I'm with you. The only variable is the component. Look for corrosion, uneven plating, or crud on one of the end-caps. Good luck. Dave F

Steve: Fused HASL is a routine HASL coating that has been reflowed, giving it a flatter, less domed surface. Awww ol' Moonie always liked to set things like "fused HASL" straight, at least from the perspective of ... Ta Dave F
