Hi, Nice idea but it requires care electromagnetic induction. Thus, if a product sensitive electromagnetic field then the solution will cause shorts in a PCB and even disconnect signals. Best Regards, Alexei

@Comatose You answered all my question about the board and operator costs, and I'm getting a good idea of how the numbers look like.

My gut feeling is that I should do more than just post it here... the suggestion will ultimately be forgotten. Does anyone know where on the internet I should actually post something like this?

Why use magnets? I found a KS project of a pcb prototyping machine that uses vacuum for PnP. Here is a video https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/botfactory/squink-the-personal-electronic-circuit-factory/posts/929661

I always put the step on the squeegee side. You'll get some "shadowing" effect on any parts in close proximity to the stepped up region. It should be manageable with proper board / stencil design.

Yes, but I have seen designs where the whole row of leads has no mask(which is also a NSMD)

We are running mainly aluminum boards and lots of them are not square shaped. You can panelize any shape board, you need just add little routing to your panel design. I attached one picture with panelization example (routing and V-cut mixed).

What could be the possible solution for shorted BGA but only appears on the component corners. The BGA is 18mm x 18mm in size. The component solder balls are within specs and the pad design for the BGA is with standard. How can I solve this problem

A good resource for implementing a BGA assembly process is: IPC-7095C Design and Assembly Process Implementation for BGAs Lots of valuable information in that publication.

Welcome to the world of Contract Manufacturing. Unfortunately there is not an opportunity for redesign. This is a growing customer that we are training to involve us during the design stage to avoid production issues like this. The customer would
