Film Capacitor

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 15 17:59:28 EDT 2006 | slthomas

I have in the past had lots of problems with soldering film caps (same problems as you), but that was mostly before the manufacturer redesigned them. Profiles and changes in paste netted some improvements but it really took changes at their end to re

Wash Basket matting

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 15 19:01:32 EDT 2006 | Solder Iron

I have to hold parts down in my wash baskets. I heard there is a rubber mat with cut outs similar to the screen mesh that the wash basket has. This mat goes over the boards and keeps them from moving through the wash cycle. Has anyone seen this produ

Oop's Pb BGA's in a RoHS process?

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 16 16:14:19 EDT 2006 | jbrower

Hi Grant, I can't speak for reliability, I don't know how your boards are going to be used or what alloys you are using. As for RoHS compliancy as far as I understand the cut off if July 1. So any boards sold before that in the EU are OK. Best regard

Oop's Pb BGA's in a RoHS process?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 22 04:25:26 EDT 2006 | emeto

Grant, The best rule is- "If it works don't touch it". What I mean is check your component datasheet. Max allowed temperature should be there. You know the profile of your reflow oven and the temperature reached during reflow. So if there is no conf

"We certainly live in a better world now." Regarding lead-free solder I assume? If so, then............... Oh god....... Another one sucked into the EU black hole of ignorance. Sorry for the thread drift, couldn't help myself. Hope your parts do

Wire to board soldering

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 20 00:31:18 EDT 2006 | Frank

I, too, would bend it 90-degrees prior to assembly and I would also put on a little spring loaded, removable, heat sink on to the wire to stop the heat transfer up the wire. After the wire is soldered, then remove the heat sink. Try the one from Ra

Fuji CP6-5 Servo Z overflow?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 21 04:11:31 EDT 2006 | daxman

Are you familar with using the mecca mode on Fuji machines? There is a procedure I can take you through that will check the servo amp and allow you to adjust it. Is your machine useable at all? can you get it to pass zero set? If you can, view your s

Here we go again........please do your Company and yourself a favor by listening to advice from someone other than the self proclaimed guru. Did'nt Ford think out of the box when the Edsel was designed? Good luck and make sure to check out all the al

Nathan, look into a 7 or 8 zone oven. Depending on your baord size, a 5 zone may get you by. If you do plan to get larger work orders, go big on your oven now. It will pay off in the long run. Plus your window for profiling will be easier.

Need help for setting up an assembly line

"Another question, is the facility with 200A @ 208V able to operate this assembly line properly?" That could be a problem, big ovens pull a lot of juice. Our 7 zone Conceptronic HVN-102 runs on 480 Volts and is on a 160 amp breaker, for example. Y
