Soldering oven

Hey Daniel, N2 gas provides an inert atmosphere which help to minimise oxidation, generally a concern across the reflow zone. Although N2 provides a more shiny solder joint, it is certainly more of a cosmetic issue and does not certify joint reliabil

ENIG

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 21 04:14:19 EST 2009 | sachu_70

Hi Adam, I would suggest you refer IPC-2221 guidelines which define plating thickness as: Nickel 2.5-5.0 um , Gold 0.08-0.23 um. Although ENIG is a standard process, there is an associated risk towards Gold embrittlement, Porous Gold, or Black pad de

If you wish to specify ENIG, your best method of doing it is to simply invoke IPC-4552 (or IPC-4553 for immersion silver) on the fabrication drawing. These IPC standards define ENIG and IAg, and I believe they specify 150-180 uinches of nickel covere

Is This Corrosion?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 20 11:54:12 EST 2009 | smt_guy

Is this Corrosion? We found our boards with this issue 45 days after they were delivered to us from supplier. The board finish is HAL Leaded. But I noticed that the corrosion like issues are coming form the tiny via holes with SILVER EPOXY FILLING.

Is This Corrosion?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 20 17:00:05 EST 2009 | davef

For lack of a better description, we'd say, "Yes, that could be corrosion." Regardless of what you call it, it looks nasty and should not be allowed on bare boards of any sort. Based on your picture, we can't tell you whether it's related to your con

Is This Corrosion?

We'd guess that since your board fabricator could not remove this stuff with it's HAL-leaded process, you're unlikely to remove it with your soldering process that is likely to be pansy-ass compared to your fabricator HAL process. Hey, why not run a

Using Injet Printer on Juki KE-740

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 20 13:42:21 EST 2009 | jti

We have a Juki KE-740 I would like to use a HP-612 Inkjet printer instead of a dot matrix printer to print out the production info, is this possible, I don't see the option to load printer drivers on the menu, and the Inkjet doesn't print correctly.

Ok. As you know the machines changed a bit after 95 due to CE regulations. There are no drawing on board/box level in Panasert machines. However normaly i`ts the 100 volts thats "shorting out" the machine and shuts it down. Check all cooling fans a

Agilent 5DX

Hi, I had a presentation on this system not long ago. That is probably the best you can buy for money. It can really show details for everything. Some issues : - very expensive - too many software options - so it's not that easy to teach it. That'

Agilent 5DX

Yup, Emil is right. The Agilent 5DX is the "cadillac" of AXI systems. I haven't been involved in this machine for several years, but as of about 2003, they have upgraded their software to make it more graphical based, and the programming more "sequ
