Has anyone done a Wave Solder flux evaluation lately for no-clean/VOC-Free/lead-free? If so, please do share some feedback. Who're the best candidates out there, etc?

Try 270WR flux from AIM solder. It showed very good results on our wave solder process. Let me know yours... Thanks, George

Does that make the board the bone? If so then the components are tendons? I knew I should've stayed awake in Bio! Flux manufacturer eh... Is it true that flux is made in big vats by witches?

Low Flux Residue Solder Paste

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 20 06:39:02 EDT 2006 | Julien VITTU (STMicro)

I'm using a lead free solder paste, low residue from SENJu among all the pastes I've tried it is the best I've found. you can ask for any type of alloy, but request the 729C flux type. kind regards

We evaluated four SAC305 pastes. Of the four, we found Alpha OM-338 to appear to have the least flux residue. We also found it to be the most dull, least shiny, most non-SnPb looking of the four.

Is the flux rated for lead free? These higher temps will cause most lead rated fluxes to burn off prior to the wave. Jerry

MF300S is quite an old flux, & a lot has happened since then on the flow solder front - are you sure it's designed for Lead free, or is it just a traditional flux that SHOULD work OK with Lead free?

You are right, RSS profile is not the correct description. I am using a profile which heats up quickly to let the flux spread. Next linear up to activate the flux and prevent thermoshock. My experience is however, that small changes in this profile

SIR Testing

I had a couple of reps in from Indium a few weeks back, and they were promoting a flux for rework that was designed to have low SIR, No clean. Havent tried it yet. The product is Flux NC 771, might solve your problem? Regards Slaine
