Fine pitch parts are not the issue. Platic parts that absorb moisture are the issue. Search the fine SMTnet Archives to get started. Try: * MSD * Moisture sentive device * Dessicant cabinets * Baking times * 033 * 020 * etc

When I worked for mpm the asking price to most of the customers for the up3000's(which is now the accuflex) was 276,000.00. Can't help with info on dek or the ekra, hopes this helps.

Maybe the issue is not a proper rework method. Your shorts on the corners are caused by too fast of a profile causing the corners of the BGA to get too hot, too fast, which made them curl, like tatter chips.
