The "lead" in pencils is no longer lead. (not for several decades) It's graphite. And it is very conductive. I found out the hard way in high school science class.

For lead-free, we had great success with graphite molds from China. As far as I remember, it was about 10$ a piece. Very easy to pop them out too.

There is no IPC specification on carbon ink. Consider talking to your ink supplier to develop the proper quality definition that you require. Most suppliers have a good understanding of their product performance, for instance: http://www.coates.com/

Mike, we use a product called Dow Corning 321 dryfilm lubricant. BTU reccomends it. You can find it in Mcmaster Carr for about 21.00 a can. Mcmaster PN is 1255K14. I reccomend pulling the chain off when you are lubricating it to avoid over-spray. Th

Now the big question is how do they get the lead in the pencil? Don't answer that. Anyway now that we all know that there is no lead in the lead pencil (which we already knew) I still feel it is not good practice to use a lead (Graphite-clay) pencil
