You may want to either open up the bottom of the vias so they will not "volcano". Or you will want to seal both sides. It never works having one side of the vias masked and the other open with HASL. Russ

Carol: If you would have problems both covering the via and keeping mask from the BGA pads, maybe you via are too close to the pads. Maybe some of the IPC pad design guidelines would help.

Hi Sue, We have a Micromat Router & a Sony Router which we use for Rigid & flexi rigid. We use a press for Flex only (or where flex is joining the boards) & a scoring machine for other rigids. Hope that helps, Rob.

if opens in same aria check for mask to via coverage for that pad. We had vias pulling solder from pad. We did not have totally opens but capalry from via was as strong as capalry to ball / pad creating small joint aria.

Get ahold of symbol technologies. They have scanners that you can mount to anything. You should be able to mount it on a conveyor with a bracket that allows you to slide it back and forth and rotate as required in about 10 sec. Russ

We use "SFDM"-- Shop Floor Data Management... We have just recently started using it so I don't know any specifics on it. Do a web search on Shop Floor Data Management and there should be a web site. Hope this helps ....
