Hi, The percentage of lead (0.1% or otherwise) is still being debated in the EU where the legislation is in place. The industry is pushing for a 0.2% limit,(if lead-free has to be) as it is considered a limit where solder can be recycled economical

what did you reprofile to ? did you increase the peak reflow temperature ? can you tell form what to where ? I bet your vendor told you process guys that it was " drop in" for a tin leaded plated part.

look through the archives for wave soldering whats the thickness of your gold ? have you done all you can for adjusting the process ? check archives for recommendations

280 is pretty hot dont you think have you tried the alloy at 260-265 where SAC 305 works ? Thx

and also that most connector/PTH component vendors test their components with immersion temperatures of around 260 degc & they do not preheat the components, so it does not mimic the heat in a typical wave soldering operation

Did you try a different lot of components or a different vendor of the components to see if the problem remains ?
