Jason, where on the board is your connector?, front / back / middle? and where it on the PCB that you don't have issues with? Thief pad's are basically dummy pad's taht you have after the last set of pin's on the component are are used to draw the

MVT has never been in as strong position as they are today. Over the past two weeks alone, MVT has opened two new offices in Mexico and Singapore, launched new products and closed more sales than any other previous period. MVT's AOI solutions are rap

Stencil Apertures

I have two questions 1. How do I control the skewing of FETs/power regulators ? ( the one's with the big rectangular pad and two smaller one's for the leads). If I go 1:1 with the apertures I seem to get solder balling and when I tryed to minimise th

Fine pitch SMT connector reflow

Electronics Forum | Fri May 26 14:03:52 EDT 2000 | GP

I have a problem on fine pitch SMT connector reflow. The board size is 18" x 12" with 8 layers FR4 material and emersion gold finishing. All the other components include 0603 on the board are reflow very well, except 20 mil pitch SMT connectors. The

Sal: Now youre talkin, buddy!!! Darrell is correct. All things being equal, thermal relieved vias (and through holes) should be the hottest spot on the board at reflow temperatures. Vias are gonna take on solder like drippins take to biscuits.

Neil, We currently use only visual inspection with a magnified lamp and actually brush the board after the wave process to help knock off any solder balls. You wanna use an ESD sensitive brush material. Camel hair is what we use. It works real wel

Liquid, Dispensable Solder Mask

We are planning on converting to a no-clean soldering chemistry and will need to replace our water soluble liquid solder mask as a result. Does anyone know of a dispensable, "peelable" solder mask I can evaluate? It would be nice to find one that i

We faced terrible void issue while using Sn96.5Ag3.5 solder paste, more than 20% void. We tried adjusting the reflow oven profiles but we did not have much success in reducing the void. Generally, we find quick preheat, high peak temp. and fast cooli

Hi Mike, I have had problems in the past that were very difficult to determine the source of. Our tombstoning issues were caused by the plating on the part itself. If your smd placement, x-y positioning and placement pressure is not an issue, and
