Flash gold is just thin gold plating over electroless nickel or electrolytic nickel. Flash gold is electrolytic gold where the panel is connected to a plating rectifier and current causes the plating process to occur. Gold thickness is controlled b

Awww, come on guys, I should never have mentioned beer and fish. Lucky I didn't mention Elle. OK, forget the points and questions 1, (probably correct there Stephen) and 5. Any comments on questions 2, 3 and 4? This bloke's been stranded on an Isla

AIM SN100C Solder paste

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 06 15:47:09 EDT 2006 | jbrower

Last week I had the opportunity to get a sample of AIM SN100C solder paste. The SN100C paste was very nice to work with. My initial observations was that the paste had a very light odor, much less than the Alpha UP78 paste that we are currently

Solder reflow temperatures too high

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 11 22:01:09 EST 2007 | davef

Joe: I know this is not the correct forum to post chip "reworking" questions. Reply: Rework questions are as appropriate as the next topic here on SMTnet J: BGA will not reflow at any normal temperature level. I believe these chips may have been gen

Solder reflow temperatures too high

Electronics Forum | Sun Jan 14 12:42:35 EST 2007 | SMTRework

I think the main cause of this condition is #3 because both #1 and #2 never change from board to board, these are identical boards with identical BGA revisions. These BGA's (as stated before) are about 3 years old.. I don't believe they are lead free

BGA Tilt

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 09 11:48:09 EST 2007 | realchunks

0.25mm tilt? That's pretty small depending on you BGA size. Is it failing? Or just your Q.E. being anal? What size BGA we talking about? What ball count? Just one board? Maybe cheaper to just repair. Now assuming there is NO part under the BGA

What to buy

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 16 16:26:34 EDT 2007 | James

This shows once again that this "what to buy?" and "What do you think about this machine..." crap really has no place in this Forum in my opinion. People have to get off their ass and do some investigating on their own. You have to be living under a

James, I respectfully disagree with you. Rick, you are correct. Personaly I liked that Universal published prices for their machines a few years ago. Im not sure if they still do and there may still be "deals" to be made. If someone was buying ten of
