Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 29 09:12:27 EDT 2000 | sree

What is the best aperture opening for micrBGA with 0.8 mm ball pitch and 16 mils ball diameter? The pad size on the PCB is 12 mils.

Sounds like you could have a problem caused by the gold. How thick is the plating? Are the connector leads gold too? I have seen gold cause dry looking brittle solder joints in the past.

Hi Ramot; I have some sugestion for you, you may want to look at part data, like lead width, pitch , length. Good Luck socheatk

about solder bridge

Recently we have serious problem of our 0.5mm pitch QFP solder bridge. I check the viscosity of the Litton Kester paster. It's roumd about 700 is it too low. And do you have god solution about it? thanks alot

Emmanuel: Take Jax's word. NiAu (ENIG) primary (some would say only) redeeming characteristic is its flatness that you mentioned, but that flatness appeals to folk placing fine pitch devices, rather than BGA. Good luck. Dave F

Placement Defect Rate Benchmark

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 23 16:25:33 EST 2000 | John

We are using a glue and wave solder process for primarily chip components. Our products do not use any fine pitch components. What would an acceptable benchmark for the placement defect rate be? 50 DPMO? 100 DPMO? 200 DPMO? Thanks in advance,

Re: Squeegee Blades

Electronics Forum | Sat Feb 19 05:24:42 EST 2000 | Dane Stokes

I agree with Scott. When not in use we store the squeegee blades in the original plastic shipping containers. Keeping them in the containers also gives you something to label the sqeegees with as to different pitches or lenghts and different machine

Controlling Solder Ball Contamination

Thank you for giving me an easy one. Cleaning populated PCBs in a stencil cleaner can be a nightmare! Please see my response to the question by MartyS on "Fine-pitch Apertures". If this doesn't answer your question, let me know.
