we changed our top/bottom clamping system in the Printer, to a side-edge clamping system. This removed the higher paste issue similar to your thread.

There is some superb tooling offered by a company called Transiton Automation, http://www.board-lok.com. There are some different choices, full molded tooing ... a service,... and re-usable fine grid pin array tooling.

We use Thermoset MA-420 on a pair of Elite 6920 printers. Excellent results. It took some experimentation with aperture sizes and stencil thickness but it works great.

All of the SMT adhesives that I have used are non-conductive by themselves. I assume that the solder joints are formed by wave soldering?

I would use a spot solder machine. If not, why not spray the mask onto the board? Use a Camalot machine or something similar. Using a stencil over placed components wil yield a thick mask - right? That's why I'd spray.

I believe DEK manufactures stencils that will do this. I'm sure their Apps. engineers could help you with squeegee material etc. good luck, pr
