Thanks for response. I do wish to qualify that I got the alleged role of Nickel use for corrosion resistance from an article authored by Jason Gjesvold, IS IT REALLY BLACK PAD?, "Phosphorus rich Ni alloys are often used for corrosion resistance duri

IR oven profiling

Hi, I think using a epoxy glue will be a more approriate process for a IR oven than kapton tapes or high temp solder Comments ?

BGA shorts that can't be found.

we have seen something similar,at the edge, sof the Bga the tracks were shorted with some burr and excess gold. It was very hard to find but it was root caused back to the BGA manufacturing process.

SMT Production

You also would want to talk with your flux supplier. They are usually knowledgeable in the proper application of and heating of their fluxes. Usually, insufficient solder in a wave process is related to insufficient preheat, dwell time, and flux app

Informations about Traceability

Good Points made. Keen observation. Work-life is mainly about covering Ye arse and keeping the air smelling full of roses. most traceability systems that do cover arse, comprise elements such as : 1) Lot no. control - link to production schedule /

Hi Chris, I found this site to be very useful and explanitory while calculating the sigma level of or company. http://www.isixsigma.com/sixsigma/six_sigma.asp It has explanations on anything and everything process control related. Regards,

Reflow

I believe the Delta T you're referring to is the delta between the highest and lowest thermal mass components on the given assembly when being processed through reflow.

Clean Solder paste

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 12 04:54:45 EDT 2003 | ronih

I need active solder paste to overcome solderability problems - I believe it have to be washed out, the issue is not the cleaning process only the paste (flux) activity level.

Frank- Dreamsniper touched on something I totally forgot about....DROSS.....This is a subtle way for $$$$ to be lost. If it is silver and Shiney...it does not belong in the dross recycle bin. That is good Solder being tossed. You can also add into
