Immersion Silver Reliability

Electronics Forum | Mon May 24 16:34:03 EDT 2004 | Mark

I just got a report from MacDermid on Solder Mask Interface Attack Issue (SMIA) with Sterling Silver Process. Corrosive chemicals in the ImAg process get trapped under the soldermask edge and eat at the copper trace. They are experimenting with diffe

I am new to the No-Clean Process. When preforming rework in a No-Clean Process, should the rework technician clean the excess flux used to change a component or place a component missing?

If you want to do this process, you should ask how to design the board for this process. Regular hole dimensions in the board will not work for this process.

Bingo. Or, work with the product designers to incorporate component processing temperature limits into their product specifications. After all, they ARE the ones that generate the BOM, right? Yeah, I know....good luck with that.

Question of delamination in PCB

Electronics Forum | Fri May 08 09:44:23 EDT 2009 | davef

Board fabricators use solder as a resist to protect copper traces from process chemicals. Fabricators remove this resist in later processing. It's possible that board fabrication processing is the source of the tin that you see.

Dear all is there anyone knew about burn-in process and what type of solder must be used for burn-in-board? And, what the maximum temp during burn-in process? Thanks in advance.

Tin/Lead HASL Plating in a Lead Free Process

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 31 15:25:14 EST 2012 | joeherz

Hege, Yes. Good info. We have other products that run lead free process with known non-RoHS compliant components. All of these are using LF process compliant fabs however so this is the first time we have been in this position. Thanks.
