I am new to the No-Clean Process. When preforming rework in a No-Clean Process, should the rework technician clean the excess flux used to change a component or place a component missing?

If you want to do this process, you should ask how to design the board for this process. Regular hole dimensions in the board will not work for this process.

Bingo. Or, work with the product designers to incorporate component processing temperature limits into their product specifications. After all, they ARE the ones that generate the BOM, right? Yeah, I know....good luck with that.

Board fabricators use solder as a resist to protect copper traces from process chemicals. Fabricators remove this resist in later processing. It's possible that board fabrication processing is the source of the tin that you see.

Hege, Yes. Good info. We have other products that run lead free process with known non-RoHS compliant components. All of these are using LF process compliant fabs however so this is the first time we have been in this position. Thanks.
