What is a typical SMT placement defect rate?

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 02 15:34:08 EDT 2014 | arifa_anees

the data collected from a standard SMT process is typically very noisy due to the natural.Initially, the most common evaluation method was placement yield.Offset Placement After Solder Screen-printing can reduce or eliminate these defects through cor

Film cap losing capacitance?

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 23 07:51:28 EDT 2015 | kkay

We have been experiencing an issue where our Panasonic film caps on a board are losing their rated capacitance. We are well within their recommended reflow specs and no other operation exposes the part to a temp of more than 160°C. The caps will read

Multi Layer PCB Fallout rate

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 17 13:02:03 EST 2016 | comatose

The layer count itself isn't going to be what drives yields. What is the trace/space? How much annular ring for vias did you give them to play with? Class 2 or class 3? What's the worst hole aspect ratio? Controlled impedance? The closer you run to y

MSL Level 1 Component Question

Electronics Forum | Thu May 12 10:49:27 EDT 2016 | Bill Albright

If an electronic component with a MSL rating of 1 is exposed to an moist environment greater than the 85% relative humidity to the point where the packaging is wet, what is the risk level of using the device in a lead-free soldering reflow process?

MSL Level 1 Component Question

Electronics Forum | Fri May 13 17:28:43 EDT 2016 | dyoungquist

Depends a little on how long it was exposed to the wet environment as moisture absorption by electrical components is a very slow process. That said, MSL 1 rated components can be exposed to high humidity indefinitely and still not need to be baked.

G5SB-14-DC5 Relays implications to 2A / 125 VDC Fuse

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 13 03:02:01 EDT 2016 | souldierann

I hope you could able to help me how come the fuse blown out when we powered up the board containing relays. The relays rated current is 80milliAmps only compared to the 2A fuse. The relay contact form is SPDT.

Soldering robot and solder balls

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 26 08:57:17 EDT 2017 | capse

If N2 is not an option, the cut wire feeder or drilled wire are your best bet for now. You need to optimize wire feed rate as well. The solder joint on the robot takes about the same time to form as in manual soldering. If you need to speed the solde

Any PCB manufacturer can do 8 layer 1.0mm PCB with 2/2mil line?

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 10 02:30:19 EDT 2017 | dawson

I think most manufacturers can not make this pcb board with 2/2mil line in high volume since the bad rate is high. But anyway you can share your gerber files to some professional HDI PCB manufacturers, like http://www.madpcb.com.

No such thing as a Compact Reflow Oven?

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 27 09:19:13 EDT 2018 | robl

They used to be sold under the Samsung brand in our region, the old CP40's & 45's were good machines. I know people who ran them hard for many years with no issues. Haven't had as much experience with the SM*** machines, but people I rate like the

Ceramic PCB Challenge

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 18 21:38:34 EDT 2018 | davef

Reflow temperature recipe: Keep ramp rates below 1.5 deg. c/second. Ceramic is such a good heat sink you will need a slow profile by today's standards. Handling: Do not drop ceramic boards Handling: Wear gloves ceramic can be very sharp General: T
