Wave Profiling a Ceramic SMT Cap

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 02 13:31:55 EST 2002 | PeteC

The rule-of-thumb is to follow the flux mfg.'s recommended profile to achieve their specified top side PCB temperature before making contact with the wave. Typical top side PCB temps are 100-120deg.C. Your wave contact time should be around 2 seconds

double side reflow soldering

Electronics Forum | Mon May 13 10:37:56 EDT 2002 | fmonette

The other important issue relates to moisture sensitive devices (MSD). If you have MSDs on the first side, you need to track the remaining floor life of the components on the partially assembled boards between the first and second reflow. Contrary to

BGA Assembly

Electronics Forum | Wed May 29 17:17:49 EDT 2002 | wilcoxito

As far as aperture dimensions go, I found a technical note written by Micron that recommends using "square apertures with sides equal in length to the diameter of the PCB pad. The corners of the square should also be slightly rounded, and the apertu

Ben, Thanks for the input on the apertures and thickness. The side two problem, is not reflow. We have no trouble with reflow. The problem is that our product is high precision crystal oscillators. In order to get the precision needed, we have t

Hi Russ, Thanks for your input. My board has SMT Chip components, SOT23,SOIC's & 2QFP (25MIL PITCH). Also, taking consideration that the board is well design for Wave. This board has been designed end of last year. We have latest model of Electrovert ma

Preheating a board with metalic coating on both sides

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 30 12:19:38 EDT 2002 | sueph

I am trying to get a profile on a thru-hole board with metalic coating on both sides. My preheaters are about maxed out and my profile is just reaching 200 degeres F. I'm not sure how much I can slow my conveyor down to get more heat. Does any one h

Simultaneously Double side reflow

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 19 20:45:31 EDT 2002 | davef

Bob Willis and Phil Zarrow have had a running commentary on the ability of reflowed solder to hold components on the bottom side during reflow. You can find references to their component weight to pad area rations in the fine SMTnet Archives. The

PCB's for oven profile testing

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 26 09:50:32 EDT 2002 | zanolli

I want to ascertain the oven profile required for through hole connectors with solder pre-forms. I need to get double sided PCBs made for that purpose. What is the best way to get these PCBs made to simulate real world conditions?. Should I leave a

Bottom side SMT wave vs. top side reflow yields

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 29 12:48:26 EDT 2002 | slthomas

Assuming all things are equal (attention to good DFM guidelines, well trained and capable operators, well maintained equipment, etc.), which would you expect to have the higher process yield, standard SMT/through-hole all topside, or all SMT bottom (

Bottom side SMT wave vs. top side reflow yields

Thanks, guys. Hi Larry, long time no "see". Dave, 60k dots out of a Camalot 2800 does not a "Dispenser Boy" make. :P I'd print them in a heartbeat if the proximity to radial leads didn't necessitate me placing radials first. Oh, wait, I'd have to
