GUYS HOW SAFE IS IT TO USE RMA FLUX WHICH IS DESIGNED FOR WAVE SOLDERING, TO USE FOR TOUCH-UP/REWORK ? CURRENTLY ALL OUR OPERATORS HAVE LITTLE RE-FILLABLE BOTTLES AND GO AND FILL THEM UP FROM THE FLUX CONTAINERS ( I'M NOT EVEN TOO SURE WHETHER OR NO

| Hi all, | I am new to SMT. In past I've made many PCB boards with my small hands at home, but I've used regular technology drilling the holes for the components. | I am trying to use SMT for my projects. SOP packages I was able to solder using a re

I agree with Mike. They are a dead issue. As a manufacutrer's rep for many types of equipment and 11 years in the engineering field I have seen several attempts to revive the technology (if you can call that technology). Most if not all attemptds

We are trying to solder a Surface mount relay having lead free finish on the leads. The leads are not getting soldered down during the reflow. The leads also look oxidized (failed our solderability test) but we don't have an option but to use these r

| Is there any way to implement SMT at home? | I want to assemble a prototype board of mine. | How can I hand-solder a 208-pin 0.5 mm lead | pitch PQFP -- lead-by-lead (the usual way), | or side-by-side (partial heating method)? | Alas, no SMD rework

Q1. After reflow some boards start producing bumps/bubbles which damage the internal layers causeing PCBs failed in Electrical-testing. How can I eradicate this problem from my assembling process? A1. Find a proper board supplier. Q2. If SMT compon

First, don't exceed the maximum temperature of the battery, say 85*C [I don't know your specifics] Second, don't short the terminals of the battery. Third, the best way to wave solder a battery is: * Insert an insulating tab between the battery an

I would consider wave solder as a cycle, in that for the most part the entire board is subject to the wave. Selective Solder is a gray area in that regard, since you will be hitting one or more locations, that in total do not comprise a large percen

| Can anyone tell me if there is a reference for smt component height specs on the bottom side of a board, which will also go through wave soldering. A current design I am reviewing has tant caps(7343) and a crystal on the back side. Should I only b

Hi Dave, Sorry about that. Specifically, I am referring to radial leads on a crystal. The leads are supposed to be gold plated but only 1/2 to 2/3 of the lead is plated. We bend the lead to form a foot which is soldered to a pad on the PCB. Normally
