BGA APATURE

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 05 18:02:48 EST 2003 | gregcr

I also have used square apps on the BGA's, this also allows for a bit more play in alignment of the ball to pad, I am interested in the reasons why to use round apps on 0603's and 0402's ???

Adam: The last one I saw was in communist China back in '98. I have used Lenape machines with freon in the past but am using spray and ultrasonic cleaning techniques since the early 90's. I'm surprised to see someone asking about them! Don

Pre heat temperature in Solder wave

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 19 16:58:47 EST 2003 | rontdc

Kev, If I remember correctly, Hollis used calrod preheaters on that machine and they had a reflector under the elements to reflect the radiant waves back to the PCB. You might want to clean the reflector. If it is too far gone, use some Reynolds Wr

I would try it dry first, we have never used solvents in our SPM, AP-20 or UP2000. Wipe every 4 to 10 boards. Normally dont have to wipe when using epxoy.

Freshman in SMT industry needing advice

We use a SAWA to clean our stencils and it performs quite well on solder paste but not so great with epoxy. Operators find the machine very easy to use and like mentioned before it takes up minimal space and has a lower intial and operating cost.
