X7R woes

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 26 22:28:33 EST 2005 | davef

Putting aside that you want to: * Get this mess cleaned-up as soon as possible * Stop spending money on this issue * Get your volumes back to plan ... and all that other production meeting stuff We'd be very nervous about shipping the X7R dielectric

X7R woes

Seen cap cracking before. It can be caused by thermal stress as noted above, but don't discount mechanical stress and handling. Your depanelization method is a strong candidate. We applied strain gages to baords and benchmarked various mechanical

gold wire bonding

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 28 21:18:12 EST 2005 | davef

You don't TS bond gold wire to nickel [of ENIG] for the same reason that you don't TS bond gold wire to hard gold. [Nickel or maybe cobalt is used to harden soft gold.] Together nickel and gold produce unreliable bonds. Look here: * http://www.smta.

DYNAPERT DD4500 SETUP DIE NEEDED HELP!

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 28 15:07:20 EST 2005 | DannyJ

Do you need the 'bug' or the plate? The plate is what goes onto the table and the bug is what you put into the upper jaws... We use the 4500 and I may be able to help you out. If you only need the bug, the width is .300" and I can get a measuremen

SN100C vs. SAC 305 wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 29 22:19:36 EST 2005 | Joseph

We have tested SN100C for LF wave soldering process since August'05 and currently start production for a month ago. Initially we use SAC305, but due to the shrinkage cavities (micro-crack) we changeover to SN100C. In summary, SN100C did perform well

SN100C vs. SAC 305 wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 12 04:14:17 EST 2006 | Rob

The most prevailent wave solder machine in small to medium UK companies is the Blundell CMS400 - every man and his dog has one. And the recommended lead free solder for these machines is..... Greg's 0.3% Silver. Quite a few of our customers use h

Copper thickness - rejection criteria

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 06 17:20:47 EST 2006 | davef

Mike You get what you ask for. We ask for 0.001 inch minimum. If your supplier's published process range allows thickness below 0.001 inch minimum, you need to define your own acceptance criterion. We don't use average measurements in lot inspect

Does Anyone own a Contact 3Z??

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 13 12:49:20 EST 2006 | jdumont

Yea we had A LOT of issues during the first couple of years with ours. I think we've replaced all the motors. It basically does sketchy things all the time. Never know what to expect with it. Since the first 2 or so years it has been somewhat stable

BGA rework using Tacky Flux

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 13 13:43:51 EST 2006 | russ

As far as I have determined, the Gel and Tacky are the same animal. Just flux works well, I did forget to mention that this flux only method will not work with a CCGA (Ceramic Column Grid Array) since these columns are not meant to be reflowed.

MS2 molten solder surfactant

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 19 13:53:06 EST 2006 | sarar

Hey guys - our lab has some data and photographs available for the MS2 for use in wave solder from some of the studies we have performed for P Kay. There are other versions being studied, but that is the only version available to market currently.
