Maybe the "other" company runs a different wave, or flux, or pallet, or touches up every board. Assumptions are like brains - every claims they have one, but very few use em.

What methods are being used in industry successfully to reball smaller pitched devices (0.5mm pitch, 12 mil balls and below)? Regards BWET

Ya probably most used equipment guys do skip that step on the machines they sell as "production ready" As for us, our machines need to actually build boards without going down on the errors that dirty clutches create....you silly man.

We use the Gel Flex from MPM. Made a different base for each machine. Works well for most boards, but you may need additional pin support for larger boards. No tools, no vaccum hoses, no missprints (which Grid Lock is famous for), and best of all

We have been using Grid Loks on our MPM Accuflex machines and see an offset in the print every so often. Haven't been able to isolate the problem. How bad was the misprint and how was it related to the grid loks? Thanks

Sorry Matt, Just hate when people use this site as their engineering bed. I believe you can weigh your board before and after reflow. It would have to be a sensitive scale though. From there you can calculate weight to volume ratios.

I'm curious to know what the pitch of the outer pads is/was on your device. Also, is this a general formula you use on all of your QFN devices or was this for one specific device?
