Yes we are using "silicones", but to find this contaminant we were looking for "silicon" the element by SEM/EDS. We use Dow materials and my contact there is checking to see if they have any info.

Does anyone have a listing of recommended usage requirements on SMT components. Can you use SMT resistors which are over 3 years old for example ? Can you use ICs which are not known to be moisture sensitive but which are over 5 years old.

We don't use Sn50, but if we did, we'd use our paste supplier's recommendation as the starting point for developing our reflow recipe.

Brad, I sell both machines on the used market. If you buy the proper oven for your use you should be very happy with either. Both companies are very reputible and responsive when you have problems.
