I believe the training was just a couple days after the installation. It really depends on how many people will be trained and previous machine programming experience. Programming the machine is not that hard; however, it's time consuming sometime.

Re: Solder Mask Bubbling off after Wave Soldering

It's a typical answer from a board fabricator - 'None of our other customers have these problems'. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, none of the other customers uses the same PCB's as you do! Your preheat-parameters looks OK - they should not be giv

Re: Non soldered leads on ic's

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 19 02:11:11 EST 1999 | Pete Sorenson

| During inspection and test we find leads which do not get soldered. Some are because of insufficient paste, but with others everything looks right. This will only happen on 1 to 2 pins, and it is not isolated to a specific type of ic or location o

Cleaning of Entek Boards

So, why can't you clean misprints on Entek boards? Entek: Cheap, flat, OK shelf life, not without process and fabrication issues. Your Entek organic solderability protection is probably Entek Plus [CU106A] made by Ethone OMI. Consider getting a co

Rosin vs. Resin Flux

Electronics Forum | Thu May 31 10:52:31 EDT 2007 | patrickbruneel

A solder wire classified as L0 under IPC J-STD-004 means that the flux residues can be left on the board safely, and when you select this type of cored wire the intention is not to clean. You just select a solder wire that gives you an acceptable lev

Solder Splash

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 18 09:13:44 EDT 2008 | realchunks

You're barking up the wrong tree. Solder "splashes" are generally caused by your print being off pad a bit. They are called solder fines. I've never seen a placement machine have the capability to push paste around using it's kiss-off from the noz

Nitrogen used in selective soldering

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 23 11:27:45 EST 2015 | charliedci

Per our selective solder provider, they recommend a PSA type generator to supply the needed 99.999% pure N2. The membrane type (which we have) does not provide the minimum (99.995%) purity necessary for lead free wave soldering. They happen to sell P

Kyle, thank you for steering me back on track. For relays and connectors I like Tom's suggestion provided you are allowed to add materials to your assemblies. An instant adhesive or perhaps a chip bonder (used in SMT) may work if the preheat is high e
