I'm looking for practical proceedures to do the following: How to qualify epoxy in our process. One supplier vs. another. How to qualify wave solder and flux in our process. One supplier vs. another. Any and all advice is welcome.

I suggest not to. You are also adding the flux of the paste that may cause you trouble in the long run. I suggest setting up a reclaim process with you paste vendor, or someone they reccomend.

Look into OMRON AOI machines. We have several and use them post-reflow and post-wave. Rick

Rick, Do you check both side of the board after wave? Can you check the orientation of components, missing of components and also the solder joint defects? We are also very interested in this type of machine. Thanks for the information. Carol

If you have another container of flux that is a different batch try that. Dont forget to clear lines of old flux. check spray pattern width. The activators needed may be dead in flux.Since it is sudden my question would be what just changed?

Being its sudden and only 1 product I would suspect the PCB particularly the barrels in the plated through holes being contaminated.

Hi folk's With some pcb's after wave soldering ,we find some solder blobs on vias. There seems to be air inside these blobs What can we check in order to solve this problem? Thanks in advance

James, I'm a little curious about your wave solder process. Could you kindly discribe it and list the approximate associated temperatures? I think I'll fiddle with the spray flux idea. Thanks James and Wolfgang for your inputs. Ron
