I would like to hear from anyone who has had experience using Alpha NR310 no-clean flux in their wavesolder operation. We are having difficulties controlling residue levels on boards. Thanks.

Hi Glen, is it a wavesoldering or reflow problem ? Check the difference between the boards that show this symptom and those that doesnt. Are there differences in the material, the handling, the processes, pitches etc. Looking at that should help you

Are they visibly "popped" after wave but not before? Remember that many BGAs, especially plastic (PBGA) are very moisture sensitive and even 24 hours or less out of a controlled environment violates exposure rules.

Is there an IPC Standard stating the max. number of times that a PCB can pass through a reflow or wavesolder machine without having solder mask breakdown. PCB is FR4 Solder Mask is LPI Reflow and W/S Profile = Standard thanks and regards,

We also had that issue and feel, as Mr wolfgang feels, That handling or packaging may be an issue. The adhesive bond may be partially fractured and releasing in the wavesolder.
