Have you tried replacing the LEDs in the illuminator? This is about the only 'wear' mechanism on a vision system, and should be pretty easy to fix.

If they sold you the lens and refuse to support it I'd demand your money back. I'd never deal with a company with this sort of policy - who would buy new kit knowing that the potential resale value is decimated by the manufacturer's policy of ripping
