solder mask onto pad or pad defined by solder mask?

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 10 08:42:37 EST 2004 | mattkehoe

We had some bad experiences trying to work with soldermask defined BGA pads. If the opening in the soldermask is right to the edge of the copper/pad without a space it can leave reside on the pad and nothing will stick to it. See http://www.sipad.com

One important thing to look at, when buying an AOI is the False Calls Rate, along with tact time of machine to inspect the PCB. Obviously, many machines can do the the work....but it's also true that each machine differ from the way it do the work. S

All, I know this is not Production/Process related but I decided to post it just to find out if this has happened elsewhere. We have a SMT Operator who has worked at SMT for over 6 years now,he has recently developed some sort of Skin problem on hi

Doesn't that depend on your company's culture & management style? We (and I feel slightly dirty using this word)empowered our end of line inspection/touch up people & trained them to know what is good or bad - so issues can be immediately fed back,

The machine sees a magazine, but with wrong number. somehow one (maybe more) wire from the magazine bus does not reach slot 3, as the other slots work, there is probably not a short, as the magazine bus work for other slots, the problem is probably i

With twenty five machines working with the LFB227/S on our little island it does seem to work well. Wetting is good compared to Tin/Copper and flow is comparable to 63/37. Biggest problem sticking 3 - 4 % Ag in a solder ignoring the patents and royal

A company called BEST makes a thing called Stencil Quik. It's like a stencil that sticks onto your board, you squeegee paste, place component/board and reflow. The Stencil Quik remains on the board. It prevents shorts and in your case could provid

Steve, Thise old Quad's will work just fine if you have low qty's to build. I would take them any day over a huge new Fuji line that is only good for large qty runs. We presently have a line that is coming up on 10 years old and it works just fine
