May 04, 2001 Royal Philips Electronics announced today the appointment of Mr Axel
R�ckert to the position of CEO of Philips Consumer Communications with
effect from May 4, 2001. Mr R�ckert has extensive experience in
leading businesses in transition, in particular in France.
Mr R�ckert succeeds Mr Thom Swartsenburg, who has resigned from his
position also with effect from today, May 4, 2001, to pursue other
interests outside the Company. As announced earlier, Philips will make
a further announcement on the future of Philips Consumer
Communications during the second quarter of this year.
