Qualmax Signs Exclusive Agreement to Market i-Pulse Surface Mounters in North America

Apr 10, 2001

Qualmax, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic assembly solutions and materials, recently announced that it has signed a 2-year exclusive distribution agreement with i-Pulse Co., Ltd. The agreement gives Qualmax exclusive rights to market and support i-Pulse surface mount placement machines in 45 states within the U.S. and Canada, in addition to service rights for existing Tenryu-made Amistar assembly equipment in the Qualmax territory. The agreement also authorizes Qualmax to sell and support new products in all of South America.

The i-Pulse M1 and M1a are the first products developed and introduced by i-Pulse, Co., Ltd. in Hamamatsu, Japan. The M1 and M1a combine the latest technology from Yamaha Motors Co., Ltd. with former Tenryu Technics field-proven surface mount technology. The result is a multifunctional surface mount platform that combines the speed of a chip shooter and the flexibility of a multi-purpose machine. Features of the i-Pulse M1 and M1a include:

 On-the-fly scanning to enable high speed placement

 Dual drive Y-axis platform for enhanced accuracy and long term stability

 Forced cooling system to ensure smooth movement during high speed operation

 6 full-servo controlled placement heads enable individual Z-axis acceleration/deceleration

 World-standard Windows NT operating system

 Network-ready architecture

 Field proven feeders accommodating a wide range of components

 High speed BGA and CSP placement

 High speed 0201 component placement with scan camera

We are excited about offering these state-of-the-art machines to our customers. With this addition, Qualmax is able to supply turnkey in-line SMT solutions to the market, said Jong Choi, president of Qualmax.
