Some 550 Flextronics workers in Italy have been rehired by a new company formed by Finmek and Sviluppo Italia, beginning June 1, 2003, at the site in L'Aquila occupied by US-based EMS provider Flextronics. This and other points are contained in an agreement signed earlier this month by government and trade union representatives, according to a report on AGI Online. Other workers who will not be reabsorbed by Finmek have met requirements for retirement, the report stated.
By the end of this month, the new company replacing Flextronics is to present a business plan, under which the methods for rehiring the 550 workers as well as wage provisions are to be discussed.
According to AGI Online, various officials were to meet earlier this week to discuss the difficult situation of another building in L'AquilaLares Tecno.
