Counterfeit Electronic Parts Symposium Program Finalized

Jun 02, 2014

SMTA and CALCE are pleased to announce that the program for the Counterfeit Electronic Parts and Electronic Supply Chain Symposium is finalized and available on-line at www.smta.org/counterfeit and registration is open.  The event will take place June 24 - 26, 2014 in College Park, MD.

The program includes eight sessions over two days with presentations from CALCE - University of Maryland, NASA, Rochester Electronics, SMT Corporation, University of Connecticut, University of Florida, University of Freiburg, China CEPREI Lab, and more.

Tuesday sessions will open with presentations outlining the past and the future of electronics counterfeiting. Sessions on Supply Chain Protection and Beyond Electronics and Counterfeiting will follow. The first day will close with a Panel Discussion on Detection Techniques.

On Wednesday, a panel of distinguished speakers will discuss authentication techniques. Other session topics will include the Legal and Regulatory Framework, Link through Obsolescence, and Using Part Characteristics for Detection.

The final day, Thursday, June 26, will feature workshops led by faculty from CALCE/University of Maryland, Integra Technologies LLC, and AP Quality Consulting.  The workshops will cover Electronic Part Supply Chain Evaluation and Managing Electronic Part Obsolescence and the Latest Tools and Techniques for Counterfeit Parts Identification and Mitigation.

The conference is organized by SMTA in conjunction with the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE) at the University of Maryland. This symposium will provide a forum to cover all aspects of changes in the electronic parts supply chain on how an organization performs part selection and management through the whole life cycle of the parts.  The information discussed at the event will be valuable to supply chain managers, component engineers, brand protection specialists, marketing and procurement policy makers, contracts management, security specialists and other interested engineers.  The event is endorsed by Aerospace & Defense Technology (ADT) and SAE International.
