Viscom unveils its new release 7.43: easy in-line classification using angular view color defect images

Duluth, GA. - Viscom introduces its new software release 7.43. As always, the update is packed full of new features and useful additional functions for programming and inspection mode. A unique highlight is the improved in-line classification using additional color defect images in an inclined view. This new feature reduces human error and misclassifications made by employees at the classification station.

The classification station is used to reassess individual defects to determine whether they are real defects or false alarms. In practice, defects that have been detected by AOI systems as real defects are oftentimes incorrectly classified by the operator as false calls.

The new release 7.43 can record additional defect images – both at an inclined angle and in color – to ease defect assessment. This new feature can be configured, allowing the system operator, for example, to determine when and for which type of defect he would like to use it. The benefit is that the assembly must not be removed from the inspection system. Instead, it can be classified using the additional images.

This function is designed for in-line operation. For example, the images are automatically recorded and are still available when the assembly is no longer in the AOI system. This way, the next assembly in the system can be inspected while the operator conveniently reviews the defect. As a result, inspection and classification tasks can be completely separated and performed at different locations.

The new release has been available since summer 2010. As always, the new release is available for all Viscom customers at no charge.
