Viscom vVision – AOI operation made easy

Viscom's new user interface, vVision, simplifies inspection system operations. vVision allows the operator to perform complex tasks using simple touch-screen prompts. Easy-to-operate navigation tools drive the powerful AOI software that does all of the programming work for both the beginner and the expert. The new software will be presented at Viscom’s booth #2047 during the IPC APEX EXPO in Las Vegas from April 12-14, 2011.

With vVision, Viscom has created a completely new user interface for its inspection systems. It combines state-of-the-art software design and user simplicity with AOI capability. Simple touch-screen navigation lets the operator focus on essential settings, inhibits the need for unnecessary entries and avoids complicated file-based programming.

In addition to its simple handling, vVision offers an entire package of new software features that includes a component-oriented approach and flexible cross-linking of inspection objects. A large variety of sensor data formats (i.e. AOI, X-ray images or 3-D SPI data) can be used as inspection data, making programming more efficient and convenient.

There are three primary work modes for vVision: CAD data import, program optimization and automatic operation. CAD data from various formats can be imported easily. Then, the components are automatically assigned to the existing algorithms within the vVision library. Viscom’s comprehensive IPC-compliant inspection library, based on 25 years of experience, guarantees the best possible inspection results. AOI systems can easily be integrated into production without comprehensive training or expert knowledge. Even beginners can quickly create a solid inspection-ready program with high inspection quality and low false alarm rates.

With vVision, program optimization is greatly simplified. Inspection program quality is monitored automatically, therefore 100 percent defect detection is ensured for existing and new electronic assembly layouts.

vVision automatically collects verified image data, which enables automatic optimization with only a few parameters. The data can be archived and is available at any time to verify quality standards for customer audits.

In automatic operation, the system fully inspects all features of the electronics assemblies. All basic data and the inspection history are clearly displayed.

The new user interface benefits large EMS manufacturers as well as small- and medium-sized operations. vVision provides highly efficient AOI programming with optimal defect detection and the lowest false alarm rates.
